Valentine Conversation Cupcakes 1 (18.25 ounce) box white cake mix 1 stick butter, softened 1/2 cup shortening 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/8 teaspoon butter extract 4 cups powdered sugar 2 tablespoons milk 1 to 2 drops red food coloring 1 to 2 drops yellow food coloring 1 to 2 drops blue food coloring Prepare cake batter as directed on package. Place foil liners in muffin tin. Fill cups half full of batter. Bake as directed on package for cupcakes. Cool for 10 minutes. Remove from pans to wire rack. Cool completely. In bowl, combine butter and shortening. Beat with mixer until creamy. Add vanilla and butter extract. Add powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in milk until light and fluffy. Divide frosting into fourths. Place in four separate bowls. Leave one bowl untinted. add one specific food coloring to each of the other three. Stir until well blended. Frost cupcakes. Pipe untinted frosting around edges. Decorate with Valentine phrases.
